Riders Set For Showjumping Championship |
A Total prize purse of BD2,000 will be up for grabs tomorrow in the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef) Showjumping Championship, to be held at the Mounted Police Centre in Budaiya.
The event, organised by Breef and the Bahrain Showjumping Committee, will be the fifth of the showjumping season and the first this year. Action gets underway after the course inspection scheduled for 8.15am.
Riders will be out to collect a portion of the prize money, trophies and rosettes, as well as crucial points that will be added to their season tallies which will determine the year's overall champions in the different competition categories.
Tomorrow's championship will be held under the patronage of Breef president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and will feature five classes for both junior and senior riders.
The first class of the day will be open to both juniors and seniors. It will feature fences 70cm to 80cm in height, and 28 entrants have registered to compete.
It will then be followed by two classes each for juniors and seniors. Twenty-three entries will first battle it out in the 'C' class (fences 80cm to 90cm) and then 11 will compete in the 'B' (fences 100cm to 120cm).
The seniors will then ride two of their own classes. A total of 45 entrants will be going for a top ranking in the 'C' class (90cm to 100cm), followed by 30 in the 'B' (110cm to 120cm).
Some of Bahrain's national team riders will be missing tomorrow's event as they are currently in the UAE for the Abu Dhabi Arab League Championship, which is scheduled to begin today.
Meanwhile, the officials for the event have been named by Breef. The ground jury will comprise Abdulsamad Albosta and Haidar Raffeei; the technical delegate is Haidar Zu'bi; the course designer is Mohammed Dadulla; the event manager is Jameel Ramadan; the chief steward is Mahmood Hassan Abdulsaheb; the show coordinator is Carina Gutteridge; and the stewards are Mohammed Jaffar, Mahmood Abdulwahab, Yasser Burdistan and Mahdi Ali. |
