Bahrain Show Jumping Team Returns To Bahrain In High Spirits

Bahrain’s National Show Jumping Team came returned to Bahrain last week after three weeks competing against the region’s top riders. The team took part in the Dubai World Cup Qualifier CSI3*W, UAE International Endurance City, Dubai, UAE from 7-9 January, the Abu Dhabi World Cup Qualifier CSI 3* CSIJ-B, Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, UAE from 14-17 January and the Sharjah World Cup Qualifier CSI 2*W, Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club, UAE from 21-42 January.

The team of seven, Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Basil Mohammed Al Dossari, Ali Essa Ali Jawad, Khalid Al Khatry, Sami Mohammed Ghazwan, Yasser Abdul Wader Al Shaikh and Salman Isa Salman, rode alongside HRH Prince Abdulla bin Meteb Al Saud, Shaikha Latifa Al Maktoum, brothers Khalid Al Eid and Fahad Al Eid and Khalid Al Junaibi and Ahmed Al Junaibi, Shaikh Rashid Ahmed Al Maktoum, Hani Bisharat, Ali Al Kumaiti, Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Shaikh Shakhbout Al Nahyan, Ramzy Al Duhami, Ali Al Khorafi and many other renowned names in the show jumping circle from the UAE, Lebanon, Qatar, Belgium, Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Italy, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Algeria, France, Great Britain, Germany, Iran, Jordan , Russia, Oman and Eritrea.

The team took part in the two phase classes, jump off classes, accumulator with joker classes, one round against the clock classes and the mini grand prix’s, all under the Federation Equestrian International rulings.

Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid, vice-Chairman of BREEF commented, “The last three weeks have been an amazing learning curve for the team. To be in the competition atmosphere with such high level riders gave us a great boost, and possibly also the courage to get over the 1m40 fences. It was a big difference from Bahrain’s national shows and the Doha International in December 2009 to these higher level three star competitions. On behalf of the whole team, I can safely say that we are proud to be representing the Kingdom of Bahrain in this world famous sport and with the continued support of our superiors, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa we hope to build on our achievements.
